New York, New York | Axis Mundi was hired to do a fast track project for the venerable Christies auction house at 20 Rockefeller Plaza in New York. This project was designed and completed construction is three months.
For four private skyboxes which overlook the auction floor, the design team selected American black walnut for wall paneling and exotic zebra wood for the floors. The design is complimented by Jean Michel Frank furniture in pale creams, and carpets from The Rug Company.
In addition, two galleries were designed for Contemporary Art. Here the design is focused on very precise anodized aluminum details, door trims, and floating gallery reveals. The floor is poured and polished terrazzo resembling concrete, contributing to an understated space - perfect for viewing contemporary art.
